Mickleover Members Meeting - December 2021
December 2020, we logged into a Zoom party, sitting on one’s own, looking at a screen. Hooray, December 2021, and we met in our normal venue, St Johns. Our new President, Kath Charlesworth opened the proceedings. The speaker, Jo Golby gave her talk “Christmas in True Victorian Style”. The competition “A Christmas Party Hat” was well supported and Jo was asked to undertake the arduous task of judging. After much deliberation, the ladies had excelled themselves, she deemed Janet Hammersley the winner. To bring the meeting to a close, for the first time in many months, we enjoyed a delicious faith supper.
Garden Group – Wreath Making December 2021
The Garden Group was back. We had been meeting and visiting gardens and National Trust venues when restrictions allowed, but actually getting together and creating a Christmas Wreath, bouquets, table decoration etc had been a distant memory. Pat offered her garage for the venue, members provided trestle tables and everyone arrived with plenty of foraged material. Members set forth, Pat provided coffee and delicious mince pies (home-made of course), to keep us going, and once finished we adjourned to the conservatory for lunch. Oh, we are all so glad to be back doing these lovely things, long may it continue!
Garden Group – Annual Meal 23rd November
To celebrate another good gardening year despite Covid 19 restrictions, we managed to meet in each other's gardens, when we were allowed, swap plants, tips and generally share a common interest. Bistrot Pierre was our choice for 2021, and it must be said everyone enjoyed the food and drink, but especially the company. Here’s looking forward to 2022.
September 2021 - Garden Group
The Garden Group visited Meynell Langley Trial Gardens in September
August 2021 - Mickleover WI Breakout
Members of Mickleover WI gathered for the first time for nearly 18 months at the Mickleover Golf Club, and enjoyed a fabulous meal, thanks to Michael and his team, but specifically being able to get together in person and catch up with friends. It was a wonderful reunion.
August 2021 - Craft Group
Seven members of Mickleover WI Craft group had a lovely afternoon workshop making fabric tulips. We sat in our tutor’s garden, garden chatting and sewing, and all managed to finish making a bunch of tulips to take home. After the workshop we were treated to an extremely tasty afternoon tea.

August 2021 - Garden Group go to Tissington
The NGS gardens at Tissington Hall were open for business on Monday 23rd August, so, of course, another outing for members of the garden group. We met and the café and had a spot of lunch before wandering around the fabulous gardens. The highlight, the abundance of butterflies enjoying the Buddleja.
July 2021 - Garden Group visit Renishaw Hall
As restriction were being relaxed, the garden group ventured further afield to Renishaw Hall & Gardens, Renishaw, Nr Sheffield S12 3WB. The weather was fabulous, the gardens were amazing, the waitress service and food just completed the package. We are all looking forward to many more trips.
May 2021 - Garden Group visit Calke Abbey
Another lovely day out with some of the Garden Group. We have definitely been making the most of our National Trust membership over the last few month. The food and drinks are pretty good too, although this National Trust didn't have Cornish Pasties!
April 2021 - Garden Group, Kedleston National Trust
At last some photo's! Boris relaxed the Covid19 regulations and announced six people could meet outside. The garden group didn't manage six, but four members ventured out, and enjoyed the long walk at Kedleston, followed by a delicious Cornish Pastie. It was just wonderful.
April 2021 - Garden Group, Cardales Wildflower Meadows
The garden group was gathering pace, and 5 members along with our horary and knowledgeable guide David paid a visit to Cardales Wildflower Meadows, Findern. A little oasis, with the A50 on one side, the railway line on the other, and the canal at the bottom. The wild primroses and cowslips were in abundance, such a glorious sight. A little further along the Birds Cherry trees were in blossom and struck a magnificent spectacle. The weather was fabulous and it was so nice to meander with a group of people (no more than 6 of course).
March 2021 - still no photos, however go to Members Contributions to see one of us has been busy!
